From Legal to Felony: The Fallout of Texas’ Delta-8 Crackdown - Google Gemini

I asked Google Gemini why it was wrong of Dan Patrick to pull the rug from beneath users of cannabis and hemp-derived THC products, when they were made legal. I got this response:

The debate over cannabis and hemp-derived THC regulations in Texas involves competing perspectives on public safety, individual liberties, and economic impact.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and other state officials have advocated for strict bans and enforcement measures on hemp-derived cannabinoids, citing a need to address unregulated markets and protect public health. Conversely, advocates, industry stakeholders, and civil rights groups view these measures as an overreach that harms business owners, limits consumer access to therapeutic products, and risks exacerbating racial disparities within the criminal justice system.

Arguments Protesting the Policy Changes
Critics of the restrictions and lawmakers pushing for bans present several arguments regarding the negative consequences of criminalizing these products:
  • Criminal Justice and Disparities: Civil rights advocates frequently point out that drug criminalization historically leads to disproportionate arrests and felony charges for Black and Hispanic communities, even when usage rates are statistically similar across demographics. Reclassifying popular substances can create new avenues for low-level possession to result in severe felony records.
  • Economic Demolishment: The hemp industry in Texas is estimated to be worth billions of dollars, supporting thousands of retail locations, distributors, and jobs. Blanket bans or severe restrictions have the potential to decimate these business owners and employees overnight.
  • Loss of Consumer Relief: Many consumers, including veterans and individuals dealing with chronic pain, anxiety, or PTSD, rely on hemp-derived products for medical relief without wanting to turn to illicit markets.
  • Critiques of Leadership Motivations: Opponents argue that targeting these products serves political positioning rather than evidence-based safety, suggesting that the harsh criminal penalties create an unnecessary entry point into the prison-industrial complex rather than addressing public health directly.

Arguments Supporting the Policy Changes
Proponents of banning or strictly regulating hemp-derived THC products emphasize different concerns focused on safety and legal loopholes:
  • Closing the "Hemp Loophole": Proponents argue that the 2019 legalization of industrial hemp inadvertently created a highly potent, unregulated market for synthetic or semi-synthetic cannabinoids like Delta-8 THC. They view these products as an exploit of state agricultural laws.
  • Public Health and Minor Protection: State leaders, including Lt. Gov. Patrick, have labeled highly concentrated consumable THC products as dangerous public health threats. A primary justification used by supporters is that these products are often packaged aggressively toward or accidentally accessed by children and teens.
  • Unregulated Product Quality: Because these products lack the rigid state testing and dosing standards required in fully legalized recreational or robust medical markets, proponents state that consumers often consume life-threatening or unverified potencies.

Current Status of the Regulations
The legal landscape for hemp-derived products in Texas has undergone rapid changes due to combined legislative action and judicial rulings:
  • The Delta-8 and Alternative Cannabinoid Ban: Following a Texas Supreme Court ruling upholding regulations from the Texas Department of State Health Services, a ban took effect on July 31, 2026. This reclassified variants such as Delta-8, Delta-10, THCP, and THCA flower as Schedule I controlled substances, making unauthorized possession a state jail felony.
  • What Remains Legal: Pure CBD and CBG isolates remain legal. Ingestible products like Delta-9 THC gummies and beverages remain legal under state rules, provided they maintain a concentration of less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight.
  • Ongoing Litigation: Members of the Texas hemp industry have filed federal lawsuits challenging the state’s authority to enact these bans, meaning the ongoing legality of specific products remains subject to future court rulings.

Enemies Among Us: The Turkey Leg Hut Still Under Attack

I found out about this from the Sista Pink Book Lessons YouTube channel. I couldn't help but think about how foul some of these enemies among us are. This hoe is definitely wrong for doing this, and the enemy behind the camera is just as wrong, but I feel like this is bigger than a dress code.

This is for viewers 18+. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, ask yourself who hired this hoe to take her naked ass up to the Turkey Leg Hut to do this? After her classless walk through that business in hopes to sabotage it, she got a bunch of men sending her D pics trying to hook up. Her response to these men was to book her. Either she did it to advertise for her business or she was paid, because a hoe requiring money for her time isn't going to put business on hold to put herself at risk of being locked up.

Public lewdness is a Class A Misdemeanor in Texas. She could face a year in prison behind this, and that includes fines, community service, and probation. Who signs up for that?

Last time I checked, this hoe has yet to be locked up. Does any of this smell right to you? For the Black trash out there willing to attack and sabotage Black businesses trying their best to build in this land where White Supremacy slithers, that's enemy behavior. I pray nothing but the worst on you if you don't turn away from that. Maybe if you were more on code, you wouldn't have to sell your soul for a buck because there would be more thriving FBA businesses to work for.

The Turkey Leg Hut is a family establishment where men, women, and CHILDREN go to eat. There is no justification for anyone to go up there without clothing to prove a point. This hoe was all the way nude, she could've spent that time with one of her tricks, but she didn't and I feel that someone was paying a lot more to get her to do this. Pink Book Lessons said this hoe went from the DMV to Texas for this. Who paid her, because that's a lot of effort for nothing. It's too bad there weren't a few Sistas in there willing to drag her naked ass for the disrespect.

If there are women willing to take money to get your booties to the polls, there are women willing to take money to sabotage a Black business like the Turkey Leg Hut. Think about it, and if they can't find enough enemies within the FBA community, there are willing participants down to do it for citizenship.
